Burleys and Ice Watch demonstrate commitment to safety with IOSH training

Ice Watch and Burleys managers have just completed two vitally important training courses to enable them to control risks and understand hazards in the workplace.

Six Burleys contract managers and half a dozen supervisors, along with three Ice Watch regional managers undertook a four day IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Managing Safely course which looks at how accidents happen, and the steps to put in place to ensure they don’t.

Hard hitting statistics about the number of deaths globally from workplace accidents or disease which take place – a horrifying 2.3 million a year – help drive home the message that safety at work is vital to keep staff, customers and the public safe.

A further eight Burleys contract managers took part in the IOSH Managing Safely refresher course – which means all Burleys contract managers and Ice Watch regional managers are fully qualified.

The courses include interactive quizzes, hands on practical exercises and relatable case studies.

Ice Watch interim general manager Dean Harvey said: “This training will further enhance the ability of Michael Jay, Ashley Kemp and Simon Smith to manage the operation within their regions.”

Burleys regional director Joe Howarth added: “The courses are a further testament to Burley’s commitment to staff development and health and safety in general.

“The health and wellbeing of our staff and commitment to safely provide services to our diverse range of clients is paramount to Burleys. Undertaking the IOSH Managing Safely Course with our management community is one of our ways of ensuring that our operations are managed in this way, by fully trained and competent managers.”
